In 1992, Hilliard published, through the auspices of Royal Columbian Hospital, a 60-page booklet called Bipolar Disorder, an Information Booklet for Patients, Their Families, and Friends. In 1993, she received a recognition award from the Vancouver Mental Health Support Society for the writing of this book and for her dedication to mental health. The fourth revised edition, in 2002, brought the total number of books in print to about 50,000. Bipolar Disorder has been ordered in bulk mostly in Canada, but also in England, Australia, and the U.S.
